I was just forwarded an email from a friend - one of these "forward this to everyone you know!" kind of things. The point of the email was to exhort people to be sure to fly the American flag on 9/11.
1. I do not need to prove my patriotism to anyone. (What little I have, at least.)
Not yet. but i'm not convinced were not heading down that road.
6. If I were religious I would probably have the bumper sticker that reads "God bless the whole world - no exceptions" as a counter to the "God bless America" ones which have way too much of a Henry V "God likes us best" sentiment. (Oh, and if there is a higher power out there, it doesn't take sides, and doesn't care if you score a touchdown or a homerun.) Amen Sister! Did I blog about that bumper sticker? If not, i had meant to. I saw it ~6 months ago and it made quite an impression on me

Damn - that's what happens when you're mad and don't read through your article before you post - 620,000 americans DIED during the civil war - 3.2 million just actively tried to kill each other.

Only a little bit of egg. Your point is absolutely correct.
(And hell, if we compare it to the loss of life from the tsunami last year, or the frequent earthquakes in the Middle East, it's a drop in the bucket.)

Everyone's got a fine line which they will not cross. Mine is getting a blog. Admittedly it's a dumb and arbitrary line, but I am am not a blog person at heart - I even just used the word "blog-person" and not the popular "blogger".
