I hate rain

I'm really beginning to think that the way we perceive rainy days is built around how we spent our rainy days in elementary school. Most of a child's time during normal business hours for a good 5 to 6, or sometimes 8 years depending on the district, are spent in school. My elementary school rainy days sucked. A lot.

In Monterey Park, recess on rainy days consisted of staying in the classroom and doodling, coloring, or reading something from the Free Reading shelves. It was much the same as a sunny day's class times. In Arcadia, it was the same thing all over again, only this time I was the new kid, and therefore the easiest target for the other ten-year-old fourth graders to pick on. I hated going out in the rain for a lot of reasons.

Now? I'm on day eleven of winter break, and it feels like it's been raining since day one. My to-do list isn't getting any shorter, but I can't bring myself to go out. I'm developing cabin fever, sleeping a lot and reversing my sleep cycle in general to the point where I'm on my finals week sleep schedule again. Christmas is coming up in 3 days, but I haven't gone out to get any gifts yet.

Damn rain. Bah Humbug!

holidays, psychosis, rain
