working hard...

Taking a little break here. Spent ALL morning in a meeting, a planning meeting detailing our capacity from now until April 2008. Yes, I will be a VERY busy little beaver. I will not have any time to get sick, take any spur of the moment vacation and so on. Hopefully, my health will hold up. I think not traveling has been good for me in that regard. I’m definitely not being exposed to as many germs. So whenever I start to grumble about all the work that I have, I need to think and remember that I could be flying here, there and everywhere so I should be thankful.

Also found out that one area that I will be focusing on this year wants us to add some additional training and that the Director of the area hasn’t been all that impressed with the instructors from the other side of the house in that they aren’t as familiar with the business and what they do there, so I will have to spend a whole lot of time in the business watching what they do and all that. At least I am a blank slate. Hopefully that will help.

Had fun at darts last night even though we as a team lost. But before I talk about last night, I should talk about last week at darts. Yes, once again, I have been remiss in my updating. But anyway, last week we played a team that had been in “C” league but moved up to “B” and had some really good people. I wound up playing someone with a 13 handicap in 301, my weakest game. And wound up beating him because I threw a really good game. Which definitely helped out my handicap. Darrell and I teamed up for a win in doubles cricket that was nice. I didn’t do that much but I helped by hitting 2 triple 15s in a row that put the other team way down in points. It put them far enough down that we could win. Go me! Occasionally I can pull out the clutch plays.

This week in darts was great fun. My handicap is back to just over 9 and that makes me happy. The evening didn’t start off well with me not knowing that we had changed bars due to our bar losing its power. Then I couldn’t remember what street the bar was on and went down the wrong one. Then I thought that I should call Darrell and he’d know for sure. We had a nice little chat while I was driving. He’s in Memphis this week. Since he won’t be in town this weekend, he thought it would be fun to have everyone take me out at a later point in time for my birthday. I said that I don’t really care as long as someone is my DD since it’s no fun to go out drinking and then be worried about getting pulled. I also made the comment that I needed help finding a date too. He laughed at that one.

But anyway, back to darts. Well, I didn’t play 301, which was fine since I don’t really like that game. I played Cricket instead and started even and wound up playing pretty well. My opponent got a bit ahead of me, but then he couldn’t hit anything and so I could come back and then take the lead. I almost blew the game because I didn’t get more points on him. However, I managed to hit the double bull for the win and he was MOST displeased with himself. And I thought he was being a bit of a poor sport about it too. I got lucky that game. I also was the only person from my team to win their cricket game.

Then came 601 where I was paired with Dave G. He and I have never won a game paired together. I definitely didn’t play all that well that game. It didn’t help that one guy on the other team decided that he needed to smoke a big, fat, stinky cigar ALL evening. I really was having a hard time with it. Show some consideration for those people around you. Well, we got lucky again and won that game too. So that made me happy.

Then came doubles cricket. I was paired with Dave again against their ringers. It was a pretty tight game but then Dave and I found our stride and the other team couldn’t hit anything. Basically we had everything closed out but the bulls and they didn’t and we needed to get bulls but keep ahead on points. So I wound up hitting 5 17s on one throw. Yep, got me an All-star point there. And that left them with having to get something like 6 bulls to win. Well, we didn’t have any and they were hitting the bulls better than we. So Dave tells me that I just need to hit one and he’ll get the others. So on my turn, I hit double bull and with my next dart, I hit a single bull for a three bull out and the win. Yep, another All-star point for me. And I was very, very happy. Ok, the other team made comments about me sandbagging but that wasn’t the case at all. I think I just play better in the doubles games. So I wound up winning all three of the games I played in and it was very nice. Unfortunately, we lost 801 and thus lost the match. Boo!

Tonight is vball and we have the 9:00 game so that should be fun. And with it being the day before my birthday, that should be even more fun. Especially since there will be cake. And we’re playing pretty well as a team so that’s even more of a plus. I wonder if Rich will be making another one of his “I’m watching you comments”?

Yes, last week he said something that it appeared that my asthma was under control this season. I said no, not really. He replied that he was watching me and it didn’t seem like I was stopping to catch my breath as much. Silly me, couldn’t say anything like “Oh that’s sweet” but rather I had to say that I thought that was kind of creepy. Great, what a way to make an impression. Needless to say, I don’t think he will be asking me out at all. Especially not with Summer throwing herself at him. Maybe if he saw me in my bikini he might change his mind…I’ve been told that I look nice in it.

Ok, I should get back to work, reading specs. Wheeeee!!! Just another fun filled day at the office.

work, fun with friends, volleyball, darts
