Fun with Faire, weather fun, traveling fun
Hello from Wilmington. For once my boss gave me a decent out of town schedule. I've been doing Safe Deposit box classes after the branch closes. So that means that class begins 5:30-6:00. So I drove out here yesterday at about 1:30 which was nice because I got to sleep in some. Always a plus after a long Faire weekend. And I avoided driving in the bad, bad weather. Nothing like hail and thunder and lightning to wake you up and make you not want to go driving....So I teach my class and it goes well, manage to avoid the worst of the weather until the last 10 minutes of class. Then the skies opened and lots of lightning and hail. And guess who left her umbrella and raincoat in the car...Would that be me? Why yes it would. Ugh!!!
But all was made better by the fact that I got to relax all day today since I wasn't due to teach til 5:30 again. Nice to sleep in, then take another nap. I'll drive back to work tomorrow morning and then have some project stuff to work on for my boss. Also looks like we'll have some vball practice tomorrow. It'll be nice to see the folks again.
Now let's talk about my fun Faire weekend...It was long and hot and sunny. And there was lots and lots and lots of walking. And my pirate boots were not made for walking. Though they do look good...I'm the Stage Manager this year so that means that I am the person responsible for keeping track of time and leading parades and herding cats, oh I mean actors.
Saturday
The opening of Faire, I got there nice and early all decked out in Pirate garb. Checked in the paid entertainers which was kind of annoying because even though it's written in their contracts they have to check in, lots of them pretended that they didn't know they had to check in. Also had lots of the older men entertainers hit on me. Whee!!! The Boy was late for call, and I wound up looking around and around for him and some other actors. Not fun. Led a few parades and basically just walked around making sure we were doing what we were supposed to. And some people are not. Especially one of our little new happy couples. They keep disappearing together. The Boy really did a good job channeling his inner Darrell. He was very popular with lots of the women since my Boy is a flirt.
That part was harder for me than I thought it would be. Guess I just have to remind myself that he's just playing a part and even though they are following him around. He isn't following them around or doing anything to pick them up. The bad thing is that one of the other members of my entertainment team has a HUGE crush on him. Which I nknow and keep telling the Boy, but he doesn't think she's hitting on him and isn't interested in her anyway.
We had a meet and greet afterward, hung out and listened to music and all that stuff. The boy walked me out to the car, got some really good hugs and headed home. Making sure to change my clock since that whole Spring Forward thing was going on.
Sunday
Time change day. Can we say that some cast members forgot to change their clocks? Can we say that the Boy was one of them? Yes, we can. Can we say that I woke him up at 9:15 and he was ready to say his line in the Gate show by 9:45? Yes, we can. You know, I am kind of glad that not a lot of people know that we're dating since his constant being late would be bad.
Lots more walking around, but this time I hid out a lot more since by then my feet and hips were really hurting. I am definitely not as young as I used to be. However, I decided to change my garb for next week. A lot of times my pirate garb is pants, shirt and doublet. Man's garb just because it's really comfortable, and warm. Of course, I don't need to have anything that warm right now. So I just bought a black skirt that I'm going to hike up and wear a bodice with my boots, so being more of a girly pirate. I think I will get a lot more attention now. See how the boy likes me getting the attention. *grin*
No, I'm not playing those games. He told me what he meant by I should go out on dates. I should go out to dinner with someone and just enjoy the dinner but that he wouldn't like me doing anything else with someone. Not like I'm planning to. I am looking forward to Faire getting over and life returning somewhat to normal.
Also found some jobs in training/design at another financial instituion here in Raleigh, so we'll see how it goes.
so anyway, there is another weekend of Faire at the Fairgrounds, so come on out and see me being the sexy pirate....We have lots of good entertainment, really cute jousters and beer and mead....
