My daddy's Moma

Aug 15, 2002 21:10

My Grandma passed away today. My father called me and asked if i had anything clean to wear. I said of course, although i will have to get my suit cleaned. So off to Pittsburgh, Beaver to be exact.

My mother called and said that they could rent me a car to drive down, I'll have to miss work, my boss is such a dick i'm sure he won't even give me one paid day for it. I don't really know what death is, this is the fourth time in the last few years that it has reared it's ugly head in my life. First it took my friends Rob and Maria, then, my mother's father, now, my dad's mother.

i will miss my grandma, she was the coolest. Wiry thing, she had spunk, she raised my dad, and his brothers, rough job. And she did it well. She was a sparkplug from texas, who got taken to Pittsburg, by my grandfather, she hated it there, but she loved him.

She has been sick with alstimer's for a long while. And now she's gone. So i will raise my glass, like us Irish must at times like these. If anyone feels the need, go ahead and raise your glasses too, to those who've passed, So here's to you Grandma Christie, Ms. Beckham...

You will be missed
