Maya used to be a weakling.
Maybe because of that he was standing in front of Aiji’s door in the early morning, knocking on his door, but to no avail. Maybe he already left. Maybe he didn’t want to open. Maybe he just went somewhere. Such thoughts were spinning in Maya’s head as he kept on knocking for five minutes now.
Yet, he didn’t want to give up. Even though they already said their goodbyes, Maya just didn’t want to end it like this. Aiji was his best friend, more than a friend actually. He loved the man. But he didn’t love him back. Maya sat on a bench near Aiji’s house. His brain told him to go home; his heart told him to wait. He listened to his heart of course. Lowering his head, Maya just stared at his shoes. It started raining, but Maya didn’t move.
After a few minutes, Maya saw someone’s feet in front of his. Lifting his head, he saw Aiji standing with umbrella, which he was holding above Maya’s head now, concerned look on his face, which just asked ‘what are you doing?’. Maya stood up and, ignoring the fact how wet he was, hugged Aiji. Silent sob left his lips; he buried his face in elder’s neck and whispered “Don’t go. Don’t leave me.”
“Maya,” Aiji let his umbrella fall to the ground and he slowly put his arms around Maya. “I… have to. I’m not leaving you. You’ll come soon, too, right?” Maya shook his head.
“You’re leaving. You are fucking leaving. I hate you.” Aiji put his hand on Maya’s head and ruffled his hair a little.
“I know.”
“You’re an idiot.”
“I know.”
“I love you.” Maya sobbed again and tightened his grip on the elder. Aiji lowered his head and kissed Maya’s forehead.
“I know.”
And yet, when Aiji was leaving, all Maya could do was wave to him. The blond understood, that this world is unfair. Wiping his last tears, he forced out a smile, even though inside of him it felt like everything was broken now.
