Friends
I am sitting on Latham Lawn, eating lunch and chatting to Emily, my college daughter about work, results, May Week, coxing, the ridiculousness of our course and other relevant matters.
Emily: So how do you cope with doing Japanese, then? I know I'd go mad if I didn't have rowing to distract me!
Me: Well...I've got my friends.
Emily: Yeah - you're lucky, having such a close group of friends. It's like having a family right here in Cambridge.
She's quite right, of course.
I got a 2:i, by the way. I'm very happy about that. Iain and David are leaving tomorrow, and it just hit me that tonight is the last night I'm going to spend with all my friends together until this time next year, or possibly even after that. They threw me a wonderful going-away party, though. I'll try and post about it properly tomorrow - or the next day, when I'm home and aching and just want to relive it all.
