Three new horses arrived at the barn a couple weeks ago.  Two of them could be considered rescues.

First up is Teddy:

Teddy is a little fellow.  He's currently the smallest one at the barn.  I say 'currently' since he's thin and ribby.  Once he fills out, he'll still be shorter than Doodle, but he'll be wider.

Teddy is one of the 'rescues.'  I don't know much about his background, other than that he came from an abusive situation.  He and Wish, the other rescue, and a number of other horses were all crammed into a pen that was far too small.  So small that they barely had room to move around at all.  Teddy is friendly and sociable enough in his stall.  I've not seen him out of his stall, but am told that when he's out in the open, he gets upset, calls out to his buddy Wish, and even rears.  I suspect he lived so long in close confinement that being out in the indoor ring or a pasture with all that room is scary to him.  He's a cute little guy and I hope he works out.

Next up is Wish.  At least that's her name at present.  Before that it was Buttercup.  Before that it was something else:

Wish is from the same place as Teddy.  She was obviously not treated too well.  Her back end is covered with bare patches where some kind of cuts/wounds have healed but over which the hair hasn't yet regrown.  You can also see another such area on her side in the pic above that used to be a long cut or gash.  While I'd normally attribute such things to being bitten or kicked by other horses in pasture, the number of them, plus the fact that many of them are nearly parallel lead me to believe someone beat her.  Poor girl.  Wish was pretty antisocial her first week at the barn.  By this past Sunday, she'd gotten to where she'd say hello to people and nose them for food.

Now normally, I don't think Sandy would've taken a chance on Teddy or Wish, but the woman selling them actually offered them to the barn for free when Sandy wanted to buy the third horse, Quest.  She really wants them to find a good home.  From what Sandy said, it's kind of their last chance.  I guess they haven't been able to settle in elsewhere.

The third horse, Quest, is a youngish thoroughbred gelding.  I couldn't get any decent pictures of him due to poor lighting.  He's a friendly guy and a bit green.  He has promise though.
