LJ Update

Since everyone else is going crazy with life story updates I suppose I will jump on the bandwagon.

First up is work. After college I helped manage the Visions full time for awhile before picking up a job at Alfa. Over then next year I was promoted twice and now I work as a Farmowner Insurance Underwriter. It is fairly interesting work and it pays well. I have no complaints other than we are constantly busy in what is a never ending treadmill of issues that need solving. Currently our department is working with one employee down and things are busier than ever. I'm also involved in continuing education at work getting CPCU certified, which is a thing that insurance professionals do. As for what an underwriter does, the easiest way to boil it down is to say that I am responsible for keeping the company profitable in a certain are of the state. There are a lot of things that roll into that so most of the time I feel like I'm spinning plates and trying to keep one of them from falling.

As for love, things with Laura and I are going great. We are sailing along at 4 years of marriage. We spent the last year living in different cities while she went to an advanced placement school in Mobile and I worked at Alfa to keep us both fed and clothed. Now she is back and working at Baptist South, and we have started working on paying off all of our debts and getting a house in the next year. Also I have a very large flat screen tv I am quite in love with.

I still play warhammer and still paint miniatures. I try not to sell my work anymore so I'm amassing quite a collection of painted models these days. I'm playing both 40k and fantasy now so that has been fun.

My health however has been not so good. I had a cancer scare about 9 months ago and after all the dust settled it turns out I have Crohn's Disease. It is an incurable condition and a gander through the wikipedia entry will give you an idea of how un-fun it has been. All the medications can be worse than the disease, and we have been struggling to get it into remission unsuccessfully.

On the up side, we are going on a cruise in two weeks if I can manage to make it that far without using anymore time off of work. I'm really excited about it because I haven't had a vacation in quite a long time.

I think that sums things up fairly well.
