Summary: Jun and Ohno grew up as friends in the same village, but Jun journeyed away and Ohno never left his hometown. Only regret would bring Jun back one last time.
Notes: Inspired by Tuomas Holopainen’s album The Life and Times of Scrooge.
They grew up in the same village as kids. Ohno remembered playing with Jun in different fields, mostly pretending to be exploring unknown areas. Jun loved adventures; it had always been like that. It had never been a secret that one day Jun would leave Ohno behind. Jun had a heart that needed much more than what could be given in his hometown. He constantly spoke of reaping ancient goldmines and exploring unknown lands. There was no way of holding him back.
But God, did Ohno love him.
And Jun had promised to return with gifts that would please kings, but he only came back once.
They were so, so old by then. And years had shrunk their friendship until they were nothing but familiar strangers. Ohno was in his deathbed, ready to wither away. Jun was still stunning. Even if the years had dragged his skin and painted his hair white, he still had that youthful look to his eyes. He was not done wandering yet.
“You’re late,” Ohno said.
“I know,” Jun said.
“Why are you here?”
“To say farewell.”
“You’re too late.”
Jun nodded his head before getting up and out of the room. Jun will never see Ohno again.
And time swallowed their farewell.
Author's notes:
I have listened to the album so many times and gotten so emotional over it that I simply could not NOT write anything.
At first I thought I would write a oneshot, but I kinda have already one oneshot in the works and I didn't want to be stuck with two oneshots for how many years even. And don't even get me started on all my chaptered, epic stories that get abandoned by me. I'm such a horrible writer, leaving them behind D:
Anyway; I hope you enjoyed this one :)
