She’s supposed to be used to this.
No one has ever needed her, not as anything more than an experiment and a weapon. It’s only logical to throw something away when you no longer need it-even she knows this.
Honestly, she had hoped that he would be different. Perhaps he would see her as something more, something worth keeping. She didn’t even know she wanted someone to want her until he came along, kind smiles and warm hands. It was easy to believe that he would be with her forever.
So when he leaves, she tells herself that she expected it all along, that it’s nothing to be surprised about. After all, why in the world would he want to stay with her after the way she treated him? It wouldn’t make sense at all of course, no sense at all.
But that didn’t make up for the fact that she was surprised, was hurt and alone and I never did get to tell you, did I?
And as she heads into the Scub, she can’t bring herself to care that it was a suicide mission; she can’t bring herself to care about anything save for four words she never said and never will.
