So, she thinks to herself, maybe even a bit sadly, I guess this is it.
Alright, so maybe a day-and-a-half isn’t that much to get to know someone, but these hours have felt more like an adventure than her entire trip. Nothing lasts forever, she knows that, but she can’t help but wish this could go on for just a little longer. It’s like this is the way things are meant to be; she just can’t imagine the absence of his laugh, not anymore.
She watches the ferry move, like slow motion, as it inches farther and farther away. There’s nothing left to do but look on and wish things were different.
But then there’s his outstretched hand, a silent offering.
Come with me?
Her lips curve into a smile, and she jumps as their fingers lace together.
