When Kurosaki falls, he knows what he has to do.
He can see her panicking from the corner of his eyes as he moves to attack, see the heavy bags under eyes and hear her shallow intakes of air that come back out as tiny gasps. Her body is hunched over Kurosaki, fragile and shaking and afraid. He can’t help her, can’t ease her worry and tell her that everything is fine.
Instead, he tries to protect.
So when he falls back, left hand lost somewhere along the way, he does the best he can and simply tells her to take care of Kurosaki.
It’s the only thing he can do.
