This weekend, I bought a book called "The Jewish Book of Days" by Jill Hammer.  It sets up a wheel of the year based on how she sees the Jewish year and uses the metaphor of a growing tree, giving evidence and explanations on why, and provides a Midrash for each day.  I think I like it.

I'd like to go back to the language of the hands, based on a section of the White Goddess I just read.  Though Cochrane said Graves got the tree alphabet wrong, I think this section is of importance to the language of the hands.

So, in the White Goddess, I was reading about the Wren's connection with the Wheel of the Year.  The celebration of killing the Wren in ivy, the Holly King, is a celebration of the Wheel spinning all the way around.  So, the Wren is the Wheel of the Year.  I've seen many pendants with ravens on the Norse Wheel of the Year, and since the Raven is ( Read more... )
