אג, the Second Gate

Sep 15, 2008 20:57

The second of the 231 Gates is אג, Aleph Gimel.

א - Aleph - Ox, Strength, First Emination
ג - Gimel - Camel, Rich Man, Generosity

גא, Ge' - Proud, Arrogant, Haughty
אגא, 'Age' - I shall increase [possible translation]
שאג, Sha'ag - To roar [root]
שגא, Saga' - To increase, grow, magnify, grow great [root]
גאה, Ga'ah - To rise up, grow up, be exalted in triumph [root]
גאה, Ge'eh - Proud
גאה, Ge'ah - Pride
אגם, 'Agam - Pool, troubled pool
אגן, 'Aggan - Bowl, basins
גיא, Gay' - Valley, a steep valley, narrow gorge

גא, Ge', is the heart of this Gate.  This Gate is about rising up.  Arrogance is raising yourself up above where you really are.  A roar is a raising of your voice.  The sides of a valley or a gorge rise up from the bottom.  Aleph Gimel is rising up.  Arrogance is the Strength of a Rich Man.

1 (Aleph) + 3 (Gimel) = 4, Daleth.  The secret of Aleph Gimel is that even an Arrogant man can learn to give.  This is the Pool, which gives water to all who drinks.

To learn the Second Gate, you must learn how to get past your Pride and Arrogance, and learn to give.
