Hun, the Non-Corporeal Soul...

Hun, the Non-Corporeal Soul, is the part of a person that continues to live after death.  It has to do with good deads that last after death.  Hun has to do with vision, imagination, direction, and benevolence.  A healthy Hun means clearity in purpose and direction, whereas an unhealth Hun means lack of direction and purpose.

The symbol for Hun is 魂.  It means soul or spirit.  It is made up of the symbols for Cloud and Demon.  Hun is the Cloud Demon, just as Po is the White Demon.

There are three Huns, Yu Qing, Shang Qing, and Tai Qing.  Plants have only a Shang Qing.  Animals have a Yu Qing and a Shang Qing.  Humans have all three.  The Shang Qing is High Spiritual Purity.  Yu Qing is Supreme Spiritual Purity.  Tai Qing is Great Spiritual Purity.  Yu Qing is the furthest from the body annd Tai Qing is the closest to the body, closest to Po.

Human kindness is the virtue Hun is responsible for.  This is directly connected to suffering and pain.  They more suffering and pain you suffer, the stronger your Hun gets, the more you can withstand more pain and suffering, and the more you feel a need to show kindness to yourself and others.

Hun is considered the Blood aspect of Shen.  This is partly because both Hun and the Blood are stored in the Liver.

Hun is associated with the East, the colour green, Wood and hence the Liver, and the Dragon.  Green symbolizes harmony.  The Dragon represents the Emperor, of cosmic Qi, good fortune, new beginnings, abundance, relief, continued success, high achievement, and prosperity.

Hun is the part of the soul furthest outside the body, being least connected to the body, and the closest to Heaven.  Hun comes from Heaven through the father of the child three days after the birth, and returns to Heaven after the death of the person.

Hun is the Yechidah, the highest soul of Kabbalah.  Yechidah is the Divine Spark, the Divine in each one of us.  This fits with Hun being the closest part of the soul to Heaven.  Yechidah is part of the Neshamah, if you use the simpler model of the soul, so it is part of the Godself in Feri.

For more information on Hun, see The hun is a slightly more materialized psychospiritual substance than the shen.
