Mrs. Maisel is literally all about a woman finding her voice. *rubs hands together gleefully* I think you're going to enjoy it as much as I am.
I don't mind dark, but it does need lightness for contrast, and it sounds like Bojack Horseman has plenty of that. Noted that the first season is slow to start. <3
I confess I haven't actually finished Mad Men because I got so tired of all the characters, and while it was visually sumptuous, that only goes so far. And the situation humor was so obnoxiously self-aware. Like ha ha, people used to think nothing of leaving trash all over the park! Ha ha, kids played with dry cleaner bags! And ha ha, the lawn mower victim's fired because now he can't play golf! *rolls eyes*
So yeah, Mrs. Maisel is everything that I wanted Mad Men to be and much much more.
I agree--for whatever reason, learning a second part is harder on some pieces than others. I do it a fair amount, but some pieces that seem like it'd be easy to switch on are absolute BEARS. And oh man is it hard to switch off the "reading the top line" thing. Not for nothing do I mark the crap out of my music, including which line of the score I sing :D
