I AM DISSAPPOINT.

THE BORDERS NEAR ME IS CLOSING DOWN. I AM GENUINELY DISAPPOINTED. I have that deep sinking feeling in my chest to prove it. :(

That used to be my first favorite chain bookstore, because:

1. It had sales/discounts/deals

2. It wasn't as stuck up as Barnes & Noble

3. It had more of a selection than Waldenbooks.

4. It had CDs that I could also order and spend my discounts on.

And now there will be none in a 25 mile radius.

That being said, I've stopped shopping at Borders because:

1. They stopped giving out as many coupons/deals

2. They stopped letting me use coupons to order items in-store for in-store pickup.

3. Their CD selection is pretty varied... if you go at the right time. And want to look through it all. I have Borders to thank for my love of the Misfits, after not being interested in their spiel for years, but deciding to pick up Walk Among US at an after-christmas sale. Which I guess, in turn, makes Borders kind of responsible for turning the object of my trolling into the object of my affection....HOLY SHIT THIS IS A BIG DEAL.

4. I've gotten weird looks from clerks at Borders/Waldenbooks for my questionable purchases. EXCUSE ME, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BUYING BOOKS ABOUT 19TH CENTURY PROSTITUTES, BUT IF YOU EVEN HAD SO MUCH RANDOM KNOWLEDGE AS TO KNOW WHO BATAILLE WAS, MAYBE YOU WOULD BE A LITTLE BIT MORE DISTURBED AT THAT INSTEAD.

5. Oh yeah....their lack of selection of translations for classics. Which, by the way, I just finished Oxford University Press' translation of The Monk and it was fucking fantastic. Amazingly fast and intriguing reading for a translated novel from the 1700s! I did, however, buy my copy on AMAZON because of their vast selection of translations (albeit sometimes too vast...there are a lot of shady quality books there, too)

my area sucks, books
