So, the happy day has finally arrived. I'm now officially Dr. Mandy Seymour. Whoohoo. Animals' lives are now in my hands. I start my internship in small animal medicine and surgery on June 23rd, in Mesa, AZ. We arrived in Mesa yesterday only to find out that are stuff would not be arriving as early as I would have hoped, and today we discover that the driver has come down with appendicitis. Murphy's Law has focused its attentions on my things. Hopefully the driver will be fine, he's in a hospital in Flagstaff and his appendix hasn't ruptured but this is just one more thing in a string of mishaps with this company that supposedly ranks number one for customer satisfaction. Anyway. My parents are rather pissed off cats will be arriving in AZ tomorrow night. Miles and I still have a bit of cleaning to do. My new bed frame will arrive tomorrow... hopefully soon to be followed by my matress.
I am getting incredibly tan and it's only been a few days. By the end of one year here I will probably be darker than I've ever been. The darkest been when I spent 3 weeks in Costa Rica when I was in 5th grade. I'm quickly working on rivalling that shade.
I really like my new place and it's insanely close to work, so I can ride my bike. And since I'll be working ridiculously long hours, it really won't matter than it's 324 degrees outside. By the way... the people who say, "yeah, but it's dry heat" are somehow under the delusion that 80 degrees and humid is different than 105 degrees and not humid. IT'S HOT!!!! Don't get me wrong, thank goodness it's not humid, cause I wouldn't go outside, but let me tell ya, 105 and not humid is not pleasurable either.
The dogs seem to be enjoying the back yard. I can't wait for Miles to be able to put his birdfeeders up. He's been waiting for years to get them up and he finally can. I also get to place my Welcome Cow in it's rightful place by a front door. My living situations of the past 5 years really haven't allowed for that.
I need a humidifier, thankfully one is coming Friday. My nose is so dry and angry right now.
My diploma came today, but I wasn't around to get it, so it should be coming back tomorrow and then I can go downtown and get my Arizona State Veterinary License and be all sorts of official.
I guess that's about all for now. Let's see if I can be productive tomorrow on the cleaning front? Perhaps... we shall see.
