a call came in tonight...
me: "hello?"
person: "hi this is _____ call'en from 'so and so lawn care' how are ya this even'nen mam?"
me: "fine, and yourself?"
person: "great, thanks for ask'en"
person: "the reason for me call is we do many of yur neighboors yards on _____ road and we be notic'en the yards in ya area are eider patchy or weedy"
me: "you know, our yard is hideous right now but i'm probably not the best person to talk to. i dont make yard decisions around here. my parents will be home later on tonight."
person: "your parents? - wow, ya sound like an adult to me...i didn't know"
me: confused "... ok... you didn't know what?"
person: "when will ya parunts be hom?"
me: "they come home late"
person: "late, they always late? and ya home alone are ya?"
me: totally confused at this point as to why this guy is asking me this
me: "no i'm not but my parent's are not in and they make the home decisions around here"
person: "alrighty then... when do they get hom usually? i'll try ya back again lata"
you know when you're 5 and your parents tell you never to let strangers know you're home alone if you are. that's what i felt like, a 5 year old kid home alone afraid to tell the lawn man that i was home alone. he knew what street i lived on for crying out loud.
