Well it seems like much of the school's energy has been turned toward the Potions Duel, as everyone seems excited about seeing Prof. Snape thoroughly throunce this Grisling woman. I haven't read any of Grisling's work, but I've heard a great deal from Pomona, particularly during the last few weeks. Plus, I must admit it will be interesting to see a more academic kind of competition--something that involves brains, not braun (though I know Quidditch and other sports involve a great deal of strategy and planning as well, before the Quidditch team members mention it).
And speaking of brains, third, fourth and sixth years--those that handed their essays in on time, almost two weeks ago--can expect to get their essays back in class this week. For the most part, they were well done. I'm pleased to see the effort and care many of you have taken with your work, as well as the amount of thought put into your chosen essay topics. Some of you, however, may find you did not do as well as you evidently expected. If you have any questions or concerns with the grading of your essay, or regarding any of my comments, please come see me during my office hours.
A reminder to seventh-years, please sign up for a meeting time for next week, for a discussion of your projects' progress. The sign-up sheet is on the noticeboard outside my office.
Also, fifth-years, your essays are due to me no later than five p.m. one week from today.
