The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: The Movie

....

Well. I think they've managed to rape the funniest book of all time of all it's fine, bitter British humor, and replace that with nasty American slapstick. The first few scenes involve Arthur getting hit in the face, and then burning his hands on toast. The last few scenes involve Arthur, Ford and Zaphod getting hit in the face with shovels.

Greeeeat.

In fact, the second image on the screen even has the word 'slapstick' hidden in it. Oh, ho ho. Sneaky sneaky. You're not getting anything past me, guys.

Ford Prefect is being played by a black man for reasons unknown. Despite being clearly described in the book as 'ginger haired.' But whatever. I'm surprisingly okay with this, though, as the actor (Mos Def) is H0tt, and in that manner clearly catches the main essence of the character of Ford Prefect.

Zaphod Beeblebrox, however, looks like a stoner. A disco stoner.

Marvin is terrifying. (In an odd piece of trivia, the actor inside the Marvin suit is the same guy who plays Professor Flitwick in the Harry Potter movies. See? It all relates to HP somehow.)

Trillian and Arthur are okay looking, actually. But the Electronic Thumb is not okay. Lord of the Rings, anyone?

Are these gold shoes supposed to be Eccentrica Gallumbits, Triple-Breasted Whore of Eroticon Six? ("The best bang since the big one!") Because those ankles seriously remind me of some past teachers.

This was a good scene, though. Mmm, slash.
