You already know, it's cold.
Like the rest of the Northern Hemisphere, we're in the grips of record cold. (according to today's paper, it was 10 degrees colder in Atlanta than Anchorage Wednesday night) There's a possibility of preciptiation this afternoon or evenng -- earlier they were saying snow, now it's sleet/freezing rain.
The school system decided yesterday, before school had let out for the day, to release students 2.5 hours early today. The school system has a long, unbroken record of over-reacting to forecasts, calling off school before a flake ever falls, and keeping kids home from school on what turn out to be days where there is no weather-related reason to cancel school. So, I'm pretty certain the 60 percent chance of precipitation won't amount to much.
