I’ll be 33 in a few hours. I don't mind getting older as long as I still look young ;]
It seems like each year is busier than the previous one. Maybe that's part of getting older. I don't have a lot of free time, and when I do, I’m usually too tired to do anything. The only time I ever really go out is when I’m in NYC...and, thankfully, I’m still spending a good chunk of time there [well...*here*, actually]
NYC is still my favorite US city. The smoking ban is awesome, people are a lot less selfish and I don't have to constantly feel sick if I actually get to go out. It’s also the best city for the holidays. Everything is so pretty and it actually feels and looks like winter. Also, no tax on clothing! I just hate the tourists and children.
A lot has happened this year...
I broke my foot, tore ligaments in my ankle, ripped a bunch of layers of skin off my knee, and almost broke my other foot...and still managed to work 10+ hours standing on it 3 days later. That was my first broken bone ever. I thought I was unbreakable...ooops. That was back in April, but I still have trouble with it sometimes…and, according to my orthopedist, probably always will. At least it wasn’t a hand injury.
I work harder than pretty much anyone I know and this is the year it's really started to take its toll on my health...and my friendships. The former - not so great, the latter - definitely for the better. The friendships I have now are more solid and reciprocal. I’ve always been somewhat of a cold person, and this is the first time that I can honestly say that I truly love, trust, and appreciate my friends. They are exceptional people and not morally vacant sycophants like the majority of people in my [recent and not-so-recent] past.
As far as my health goes, I’m trying to say no to clients, take at least two [maybe three] days off a month, and not work more than 14 hours a day without a break. I’ll still probably work on holidays, but I’d rather work on xmas than on my birthday.
As far as the salon goes, I’m in the process of moving again. The new place is so awesome! I get giddy just thinking about it. I love being in NYC right now, but I can’t wait to get back to ATL to finish work on my new space. It’s seriously amazing and makes all the hard work totally worth it.
I hardly read anything on here, except celebrity gossip…so if anything important happens, you probably know my number and know that’s the best way to get in touch with me. I’m still horrible at updating things and replying to emails and texts.
Oh yeah, I’m also blonde again….but this time it’s strawberry blonde and buttery blondes. I’m really digging it. It’s the most natural my hair has ever looked. I’m really obsessed with warm and orangey blonde shades right now.
Proof:
Oh yeah...happy holidays, or whatever!
