Yay, it's May. I'm thinking I can finally catch a break.
Friday night's PEO banquet went really well. It was such a relief that I didn't have to do anything beyond my speaking part and the guest of honor comfortable. I was put mostly at ease after Mark arrived and Scott and I spent all evening with him.
We sat at the head table onstage for dinner, and throughout the meal, he had women coming up to him telling him what fans they and their husbands were of the show, and he was so wonderful and sweet to them, even going so far to calling one woman's husband who was at home to say: "Hello! I'm hanging out with your wife and she's awesome!"
When I got up to do my intro remarks, my nervousness completely subsided after I got a laugh from the audience after a joke. After I finished and mark came up to podium, he gave me a big hug and later wrote me a note thanking me for what he called a very kind, gracious intro "from someone who does intros for a living."
Scott and I spent Saturday hanging out with friends and Sunday working on the kitchen. The walls are now up, the texture and spackle completed, and a good coat of paint slapped on. My washer/dryer room and new pantry are also completed, so all that remains is putting up the shelving in the rooms.
I think tonight we'll rest, but we'll be installing lights this week. It's neat to finally see it all come together, but even if slowly.
