Still Alive

Right I'm here again! I know I haven't posted for ages and ages, but I haven't had time to stop moving for about a fortnight. I was going to go pole dancing tonight but I decided I needed a night off from moving house, unpacking, socialising etc etc so I thought I'd stay in and have a bit of a rest and catch up with my online life. So, apart from Simon and Bee popping over later for a cuppa and doing a bit of unpacking, I will be writing in here, replying to all your notes and other such scrummies.

So on Saturday I moved house. I must have the best friends in the whole world because loads of people turned up to help me, we had five cars between us and even more people than that. It was so touching, but we all just ended up getting in each other's way more than anything, it made it quite hard to move things out of the house when there were so many people milling about! I think I ended up with about 12 car loads altogether; I have too much stuff. I think Pete moved about five car loads to his new house, he fit it all in one room and had finished unpacking the same day! I have two rooms to fit all my stuff in and I think I've done pretty well so far. It's been five days and I think I'm about halfway through. I've kept my bedroom clear of clutter and kept it nice and tidy and cosy, so I have somewhere to go when I get sick of the mess. The pile in my living room is going down nicely and last night I discovered the loft so I chucked a load of stuff in there including my Christmas tree, suitcases, boxes of photographs etc. I feel so much better now I've discovered the loft as I had no idea what I was going to do with all my random crap.

We still have the keys to the old house, which is useful as it means I can park my car there when I go into town. But also annoying as I took the day off work on Monday to hand over the keys and Pete drove all the way from Nottingham in the snow, only to have a phone call to say that they've had to cancel because the bloke coming for the keys can't get there because he has to drive from Nottingham in the snow...which is where Pete came from. So now we have to reschedule, and we do all have to be there because the house is being inspected. And I'm not ringing them, they want the keys so they can ring me, but I haven't heard anything since Monday. They've also taken this month's rent out of Pete's bank account even though we don't live there any more. Huge shambles!

It's a bit strange living here, because it's someone else's house I'm in it feels a bit like I'm a guest, and I think she sees that way too. She doesn't seem to like it if I leave anything lying around in the kitchen and keeps asking me when I'm going to move it, and she locks her living room door when she goes out. Which I suppose is fair enough as she hasn't known me for very long, but it still seems a bit odd. Ah well I suppose we just need to get used to each other.

So, the snow! I can't post any photos because I don't know where my phone cable is yet, but I'll steal some other people's to show you what we got, just in case it passed you by or anything ;o)

And how's about this, a lifesize polar bear!

And this four or five inches of snow has brought the entire country to a standstill. Only about half the people have been at work the last couple of days because they couldn't get there and it's all anyone's been talking about. It's only a bit of white stuff! I'm lucky I only live about a mile away, so I cycled in, and it's hard work but good exercise trying to cycle through four inches of snow on roads that haven't been ploughed! I haven't had time to go out and play in it yet, but if it's still there at the weekend, me and my friends are planning on playing on Sunday. It's been years since we had proper snow so I can't wait to make a snowman, throw snowballs and go sledging :o)

So it's now a few hours later, Simon and Bee have just been over and fixed a load of things for me! I now have wireless internet, one single channel on the TV (It's complicated) and we discovered that the oven does actually work after all so now I can start trying out my fifty tasty muffin recipes! :-D I can't wait.

I didn't have time to reply to your notes like I promised up there, but they were here for longer than I thought they would be, so I apologise, I'm going to have to find more time another night!

So I've just re-read this entry and it's very rambly and disjointed. I apologise for that, I was kind of distracting and not really concentrating properly when I wrote it. I hate my writing style, it's so childish and has the feel of "OMG LOLZ ROFL" etc. Ick.
