Just another manic Monday...

I needed to catch up with my notes before writing again otherwise I would never have got around to it. OK I know I haven't quite replied to all of them but I've done my best! I have no self discipline...

Last Monday wasn't a very pleasant day all 'round. Cycling to work I saw a cat lying by the side of the road looking not very well. I stopped my bike and went over to it. Its eyes were glassy and staring and it was writhing and twitching in the throes of death, legs flying up in the air and everything, but its head was perfectly still. It might have already been dead at this point and been having muscle spasms. It didn't have a mark on it apart from a tiny drop of blood out of its nose. Another lady had stopped and we didn't know what to do but stare at it, it was horrible, imagining how much pain it must be in. Then it suddenly stopped moving, that's when we realised it had definitely died.

It had a pink collar on but nothing was written on the disc so we had no idea who it belonged to. We knocked on the nearest door but there was no answer. We didn't want to leave it in the road so we had the not-very-pleasant job of picking it up and laying on the grass verge, a little trail of blood drops following us. All we could do was leave it lying there, its dead glassy eyes staring at nothing.

I can't believe someone would hit a cat with their car and just drive on leaving it to die. I only hope it wasn't there suffering for too long. I cycled past later and it had gone so I only hope it went to its owners and they council didn't just throw it on the rubbish tip or something.

Later on I got an email from my Dad. My Uncle Jim has died after slowly being poisoned over a period of several months by a woman at his work who wanted his job. She worked in the canteen and was adding it to his food bit by bit every day. He started to become ill and they couldn't figure what was wrong with him at first. I don't know how they found out what happened but when they tried to arrest her, she disappeared and the police have been looking for her for some time now. He's been in and out of hospital for months but the damage had already been done and his organs (specifically his kidneys) just failed on him.

I've only seen him twice in the last 15 years but my Auntie Jean is a frail old woman now, they've been married for about 50 years and most of her family is over here in England. She has her daughter and her husband out there but, obviously, everyone over here is going to be worried about her. Then there's Jim's daughter who was the result of an affair and Jean and Jim took her on when her Mum died, so what will become of her? I know too many people who have died lately...

I tell you what, I'm loving this gorgeous hot weather we're having! It's been about 27 Celsius (80 F) OK so not tropical, but hot for the UK and definitely better than the 15 Celsius (60 F) we have been having lately. Now I can wear skirts and shorts and no jacket and things! I've been sitting in the walled garden at work during my lunch break, it's so quiet and warm and grassy with no people, I can relax with my sandwich and my book, I love it! But if I hear one more person remarking how amazing it is to see me out of trousers I think I might scream. "WOW look at you in a skirt!" "Wow look, you've got legs!" "Are you feeling ok? I've never seen you in anything but trousers before!" ARGH! I've been dressing like this for a whole week now, get over it! Someone actually said today "I've never seen you not wearing black before!" Um...I only have one black top that I wear for work, my others are purple, red, blue and pink, what are you talking about?

ALSO I'm sick of people complaining about the heat! All I hear is "Phew it's too hot! I can't concentrate! My fan is blowing my papers everywhere! I feel really sleepy! It's too hot to sleep at night! I can't stop sweating! I can't be bothered to do anything! I wish I was at home with a nice glass of Coke!" SHUT UP! All during the Winter, which seems to last for about 11 months, you don't hear me complaining about the cold as much as this! "It's bloody freezing out there! I can't feel my fingers! It takes too long to get dressed in the morning! I'm all wet from the slush! I feel claustrophobic in all my blankets in bed! Shut the door quickly! The hailstones are stinging my face!" It doesn't help anyone, there's nothing you can do about it and you'll only complain when it gets cold and starts raining again, stop bloody complaining! *phew* I'm just going to enjoy the weather while I can and try to ignore all the killjoys.

Do you know what, I have a massive list of things to complain about but I think I've done enough for now, I might complain again later...

Karaoke on Thursday; I sang four times! I've broken my won record *smug* OK so there were only about 10 of us in there and it was only our group who was singing but it was great. I'll say I'm getting into practice for when our band is rich and famous and I need to sing in front of 250,000 people. You never know, it might happen!

I've started a list. I've noticed people doing a "101 things in 1001 days" list and I'm going to do my own. You make a list of 101 things you really want to do and then you've got 1001 days to complete it, I've written 55 things so far and I'm getting a bit stuck now, I need inspiration...I've read everyone else's lists I can find and plagiarised them all massively but I'm still stuck. I was planning on starting it yesterday but I can't start a half finished list. Watch this space!

I'm going to have to dye my hair, I'm being called blonde more and more, I haven't been blonde since I was 18 months old but my hair seems to have been bleached in the sun, just in the last week. ARGH!
