All his young life, Kazutaka felt fear. At the hands of his mother, misusing him like a doll. At the hands of schoolmates, not understanding his mind or heart. At the hands of his half-brother, the cuckoo brought into the family nest. Then came the fear he felt when he looked within at the darkness lurking there, the legacy of the bloodline from which his mother came. Given the chance to cause fear rather than feel it, he gave in, trembling.
Now the darkness made him immune to all fear but the fear of what he saw in his mirror.
