Life is crazy busy.
We're getting the grant to dredge the creek. Hopefully no more flooding until it's finished in 2 to 3 years. (crossing my fingers)
I've been put in charge of organizing a youth center at the old gym. So far there has been a good response from the community. Donations of a big screen tv, Play Station 2 and games, a computer, a ping-pong table, etc
Now I have to hit up these large corporations for donations of $$ and sports equipment. I would love to get a foose ball table and an air hockey table. We need everything from basketball nets and balls to a new roof on the gym. Bill wants to have it ready for this winter but I don't see that happening. Jimmy said the gym cost over $4000 a month to heat in the winter.
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have destroyed the southern states. My heart goes out to everyone.
Aunt Mary died on August 30th. I had hoped she would hold on until I could show her the pictures of the town picnic. She was the person who encouraged me to enter into politics. She is the kind of person others strive to be like. She was genuinely kind-hearted, brilliant (you can't be a professor at UCLA if you aren't brilliant) Her obituary also included the following ...
(She) taught in rural schools in Des Moines County and Hawaii, taught music at the Gila Bend, Ariz., Relocation Camp during World War II and later taught in the Unified Schools in Los Angeles. She served as president of La Canada Women's Thursday Club and contributed to Habitat for Humanity.
Instead of a funeral she donated her body to science and asked that instead of spending money on flowers, everyone donate that $$ to their favorite charity.
No fuss, no muss.
She was .... just wonderful and I will miss her deeply - but I know that we will see each other again when it is my time to go.
Ok, enough mush.
The town picnic turned out beautifully!
Only one "incident" happened when Kelly B showed up after having "taken too much cold medicine"
Yeah right. The bitch almost passed out in her potato salad! She was sloppy stoned from taking a bunch of Zanex. She reminded me of the pig Anna Nicloe Smith was on her tv show. But Bill asked her to leave and she did.
Ok, I'm done for today. I might post some pics of the picnic later.
Time to cook dinner.
