Instead of waiting until New Year's to make a resolution, I'm going to try to post on a weekly basis. If nothing else, I want to force myself into writing again, and the best way to do it is to impose an artificial deadline. I won't be able to let it slide.... Well, yeah I can, but there's something about a deadline that kicks my tail into gear.
Anyhoo....
My youngest has joined a writer's club at her elementary school, and I think it's safe to say that she's written more fiction this year in this past week than I have all year. When I picked her up after school from the club, there were 38 kids attending. The teacher had to relocate the club from her classroom to the library so she could fit everyone in. From what I could tell, my youngest has been writing in every bit of spare time she has. Maybe I should take some notes....
Since it is a Friday and Fall is coming on, I guess that means that I have to spend some time working on the basement. Ever since I saw that $12k gaming table at Gen Con, a little voice in my head has been saying that I could create my own for a lot less money. A slightly louder voice has been pointing out the detailed woodwork for the table that I don't have either the tools or skill to duplicate, that I don't have the space in what will be the game room, and that it simply wouldn't fit around the stairs unless I broke it down somehow. Nevertheless, I've been pushing forward with a reorganization of the basement in the hopes that I'll figure out how on earth to make it work.
After an incredibly hot and dry summer, autumn rolled into town about four weeks ago and brought rain with it. Well, we have to thank hurricane Isaac for bringing the initial blast of rain, but after Isaac we've had a succession of storms bring the landscapes back from the brink. I'm grateful for the rain, but I have no idea what is ahead for us this winter. I sure hope it's not 5 feet of snow.
