30 day J-rock meme_Day 6
Day 6: Your favourite J-Rock Video
When it comes to Japanese rock/ metal bands, I find that 90% of the time, their music videos are compromised of the following elements:
1) Band shot with all the members performing
2) Solo shots of the musicians with them looking either sexy or sad or both.
3) Random actor (most of the time, actress)
Hmm I find myself wishing that there could be more of a story behind the vids to make the visuals more intriguing (like the Korean groups and western bands). But I guess the bands have their reasons for not making elaborate vids (like allowing the audience to focus more on the music). At times, I can't help but think it would be cool if:
- Galneryus could do a vid like the Offspring since they are pretty funny too (Ono: Hey hey are you disrespecting meee! Syu + Taka: TAKE HIM OUT!!! Satoh + Yuhki: [gotta keep them separated...]. Although the part where dog-poo was used as chocolate bread spread is optional)
- Deluhi could do Taylor Swift (arrgh dunno why I mentioned Taylor Swift when the genres are totally different. I just had the mental picture of the 'sad/ longing' Juri from the furthest belting out "he is the reason for the teardrops on my guitar T_T". And Leda in a sundress playing guitar under a tree -_-)
- And Kra could do Lady Gaga (I have 100% confidence that they can pull this off. I can imagine Mai coming out of a bath-tub, staring at the camera O.O)
That being said.. I do have 2 favourite J-rock vids (one relatively fun one and the other, more serious).
So the fun one... Kra - Shunshoku no Hana
I am not sure if this is correct. kurainanimo if you have time, maybe you can help me check since you do Lit XD I find the vid intriguing not only because its a blend of sexy and weird but also cos I see the girl as a representation of the band itself. Its the Neyteri effect (aka avatar).. weirdly attractive.
My other favourite vid: Deluhi - The Farthest
I like this vid cos it complements the lyrics of the song well... It accentuates the sadness and hopelessness >< And its one of the vids where the actor adds to the emotion of the video instead of functioning as an additional "prop" (see pt 3 of first para). The ojisan makes me sad (i think i have a soft spot for the eldery) and Juri's performance is really good. Makes me wanna go to him and *pat pat dun be sad :-<*.
