:: With all the hubbub surrounding the Tonys these past couple of days, I totally forgot about other major award ceremonies, namely the
BAFTAS. I only really cared about one category, the
"Leading Actor" in a television series which was won by... KENNETH BRANAGH! Woohoo! Second year in a row! Totally deserved it! I absolutely love his portrayal of fictional character Kurt Wallander and am more than happy he won! I loved how they said that "Kenneth isn't able to be here tonight, as he's directing in America..." I can't wait for "Thor" to be released! I was looking at the nominees of other categories and was surprised to see that "QI" didn't win in it's respected category. Weird...
:: Speaking of "QI", as I said in a previous post, I've been watching series G lately. I was watching
episode 5 (Christmas Special) last night and started squeeing when I saw that one of the panelists was David Tennant! *drools* I loved his appearance! While Bill and Alan were acting like retards, he held his composure in a very gentelmanly like way. He gave brilliant answers and was awarded second place -which I found weird seeing as he gave the most intelligent answers. The fact that Alan won, can only be attributed as a Christmas miracle!
:: And now the big news. Helen Thomas is retiring. O_o Honestly, it's true. Apparently some recent comments of hers regarding the Israeli-Palestine situation offended more than a few and she will therefore be retiring effective immediately from her position as White House Correspondent. This is a load of crap. I don't agree with the comments she made, but she's a damn good journalist. People have been really tearing her down over this. Over the years, she's asked hard questions to both Republicans and Democrats and has made them cringe more than a few times. She's great at what she does and it's unfair that mediocre idiotic journalists jump on the bandwagon that's trying to bring her down. So what if her comments offended some? The woman apologized and that's that. She's 89 years old and is still doing her job like a pro and should be respected imo. I can never understand this obsession Americans have with people apologizing. And even when the person in question does apologize, they say that the apology wasn't strong enough. WTF does that even mean?! In this case, it was the national director of the Anti-Defamation League that made such comments stating, "We believe Thomas needs to make a more forceful and sincere apology for the pain her remarks have caused." Drama queen, much? What pain?! Pissing people off, yes. But pain?? That guy should STFU.
