:: As you all know the Tonys are upon us, being only a week away. And yes, I know I said I wasn't going to watch them because they snubbed Nathan this year but the host is Sean Hayes! How can I NOT watch them?? Anyway. Also kinda surprised Cheno wasn't nominated. WTF Tonys?! Neither the King or Queen get a nomination?? Insanity, thy name is 'Tonys'! I guess I have other things to look forward to from the ceremony. I'm guessing Alfred Molina will be walking away with the "Best Actor in a Play" award even though Jude Law is in the same category and trust me, he was superb as "Hamlet"! I think "American Idiot" will leave with "Best Musical" but I can't decide who will win the "Best Actor in a Musical" category.I have two favorites in this category -Sean Hayes and Kelsey Grammer- but taking into consideration last weeks awards ceremonies, I think Douglas Hodge will be the victor. I got to see him in the 2008 London Revival of "La Cage aux Folles" alongside Denis Lawson and I have to say, I wasn't impressed... His 'Albin' was kinda eeky, if that makes sense. I guess we'll just have to wait and see the outcome.
:: Sean Hayes is so utterly adorable in "Promises, Promises!" I didn't really like "The Apartment" -which is what the show is based on- even though I do love Jack Lemmon. I mean, who doesn't?? Not to mention that Cheno is in the show! I love that woman so freaking much! So much adorableness and talent it's simply mind-blowing! Found
this adorable video of them singing for the crazy ladies of "The View". Do people even watch that show anymore?? Every time I see Joy Behar I think of
Fred Armisen's impression of her saying, "My doctor told me that I have so much upper arm fat that if I was pushed out of a tree, I would glide! Like a squirrel!"
:: Apparently there's going to be a revival of "Angels in America". Interesting. I haven't seen it on stage but the movie was pretty cool, albeit a bit too long (but then again, so is the play). And guess who's going to be in it! Zachary Quinto! Amazing, no?! Spock turns gay onstage! WIN!
:: As you may have surmised, I'm still quite vexed with the whole Nathan-not-even-being-nominated thing. Nathan on the other hand, seems perfectly content and truth be told, why shouldn't he? He already has two Tonys under his belt. Found
this cute article where he talks about them a bit. And to top things off, I leave you with a mini Nathan & Friends picspam from the recent Drama League Awards!
