Finally the COW!

FINALLY we picked up the COW (Cabin-On-Wheels) on Wednesday. It is beautiful (and BIG)! We parked it in the driveway which made it look even bigger. Alan, Meghan and I heated dinner, watched a movie and sat in the COW that night - sure was fun. Yesterday, I loaded more stuff then headed to Maple Valley for storage.

All the rental places near Bellevue are really expensive so I opted to go more out of town. Maple Valley is about a half hour away and $200 a month cheaper - at least a tank of gas! I rented a space at the end of September, supposedly paid for the month of October. When we got there, they had no record of our rental and the space we had was occupied. Turned out (they are all idiots) that they had another space that the 'idiot' tells me will still be too small. By now I am not only pissed, but starting to panic about where we are going to store it.

The 'idiot' tells me that there is another storage place about a mile further down the road, so off I go. All's well that ends well - I like the new place even better. Not only is it a pull through, not a back up - it is even cheaper! I parked the COW and spent the afternoon unpacking boxes. I had to wait for Alan to come pick me up, so I put in a movie, made myself a cup of hot chocolate and totally enjoyed being alone in my COW.

Driving this HUGE vehicle is an adventure in itself. Actually, I am kind of proud of myself and my driving skills. Other than almost taking out a sign on the first corner I turned, I did rather well. It drives much easier than I feared and as soon as I get a better feeling about where my front end is, I think I will enjoy driving. Alan has made a point that it is MY COW and I need to be the main driver. This is OK by me as I am a much better driver that he is anyway - I will probably be a total wreck when he drives.

Backing out of our driveway was kind of funny. We have a back-up camera and great side view mirrors but it was pouring rain and visabilty was awful. It wasn't tricky to back up as it's pretty much a straight shot, but when I went to drive forward around the center planter, I cut it too close and hit the curb. My Pilot was parked in a position that I though I would hit it if I didn't cut it sharper (actually, I had plenty of room, but I'm still unsure where the front is). After backing up and wiggling around, I got going - good thing I didn't have an audience - would have been worth a giggle.
