Today when Kim went to class my plan was just to pass out while watching TRL. But instead I was switching channels and I stumbled upon C-Span 2. Lo and behold they were showing inauguration speeches from the past 100 years!
It was amazing. And yes I am a Madison dork, but I can't help it if politics excites me.
I got to see FDR's speech, Eisenhower's second speech (I fell asleep during his first inauguration), and Kennedy's speech. And the one thing that united all of them?
They were PRESIDENTIAL. They just had that x-factor. Where they stood up and they were supported by the people and even in videotapes that were from 1933 and in black and white you could tell that they were leaders. They were strong and clear and confident and verbose, and part of FDR's and most of Kennedy's speeches even gave me goosebumps.
::sigh::
well I guess it is what it is, and I'll just have to adjust to Dubya. I just miss being excited about the president.
Bur the Harry Potter book comes out in less than 7 months, aaaaand I will be in Cambridge at the same time!!
oh that just never stops being exciting :)
