"Dreams with Sharp Teeth"

I'd just sat down and turned on the TV for the first time in about a week.  This documentary about Harlan Ellison was on (although Neil Gaiman's was the first talking head I saw), and it had just gotten to the part where he was talking about "The Glass Teat", his complilation of essays criticizing television and the intellectual laziness of people who've grown dependent on it.  He was giving all these examples of how stupid TV is and how stupid people are who habitually watch it.  Gah!  He's right!  I do feel my brain melting!  And I felt like my grandmother had just caught me masturbating in a porn theater.  I felt guilty, resentful and then downright suspicious.  "Yeah?  Well what are you doing in here?"

Since it was almost at the end, I set the TV to record the next showing of it, whenever that is.   Brilliant guy.   I've only ever read him - lots of him - and this chance to hear and see him speaking is too good to pass up.  I'm becoming fascinated lately with what somewhat older people have to say (not a new thing for me, but I'm especially conscious of it lately) and older, certifiably brilliant people are of particular interest.  I was laughing and cheering along with just the last few minutes.  The rest of it will probably give me a heart attack.
