This state does not work for some of us, as we immediately become claustrophobic from it. We get bored with safe mediocrity. We want to find new ways to have fun, to be happy, to see beauty, to experience our time here. We want to push ourselves as far as we possibly can - and then a little more. People like your friend, they aren't bad people for being the way they are. I mean, not inherently. They're just afraid without even realizing they're afraid. They're like the cattle at those factory ranches down on I-5 (lovingly known as 'cowswitz' by many). Say you're an animal activist, you head on down to that huge farm with your ALF buddies, cut open the gate, and yell at the cows 'you're free! Run little cows! Run! Go frolic in the fields!'
