So I'm trying to get in better shape for my recent passion, SCA heavy combat. I see more than a few big, potbellied fighters out there; I'm not going to be one of them. I'm always going to be a little guy, and I need to be a small, fast, confusing left hander to be a success. The way I figure it, the less I weigh, the faster I can go (within reason). So, time to shave off the love handles and get fit.
So far, The Plan is pretty vague - probably more of a grounding than a plan - but it seems to be having an imapct:
1) 120 jumping jacks, 100 situps, 100 pushups every day, split up into breaks of 50 each.
2) Jog on the days I can cram it in - probably just the weekends, but I'll try for two other days when I don't go to work until noon.
3) Eat better. LOVE the water to drink! Yay, water! And Slim-Fast shakes are GREAT breakfast!
4) Skip dessert. Probably the hardest thing of all to do, since my wife makes awesome cakes and cookies.
5) Try to go meatless once a week.
Now, none of those things are fun. I won't lie. Exercise hurts. Being hungry is no fun.
I sure feel good after the exercise is done, though - when "the burn" settles into a warm, gentle ache. And seeing that number on the scale slowly slide down? Priceless.
170's the goal; I'm not rushing to get there - a slow plan based on habits is going to work better than a "crash". And if I fall off the wagon one day, it's not a disaster - I try it again the next day. If I'm craving a poached egg and grilled toast one morning, so be it - just as a treat, not a habit.
I feel like this will work. Thoughts?
