3 weeks already?

Time flies when you're having fun I guess. There are lots of things I should have done and a few new things that I have actually done in that time. I'm afraid I'm getting awfully bad at replying to emails. Not that any of you email me, but the random people who are requesting arc reactors and instructions for other things I make must think I'm awfully rude by now.

Work has been busy, they wanted me to stay into the evening and late on Friday afternoon/the weekend so I could get the project done. Normally I would but this week I had some appointments that I just didn't want to shift. I seemed to live in specsavers last week, going in to have my old glasses fixed and sorting out some new ones. Even have some contact lenses now so that when the touch rugby starts again I'll be able to see what's going on.

Visited my parents last weekend and finally found the right TV cabinet. I say right but it kinda needed some modifications from me before it was perfect (I'm fed up of pushing cables through small holes so I cut the back clean off). It was a good deal from 'the range' as they were selling off all the old MFI stock at half price. The main focus of the trip to Poole though was to buy some laminate floor for the lounge, this we got from topps tiles. Slightly more expensive than the other types we saw but now it's layed it was well worth the extra £40.

The plan was to lay the floor on Friday afternoon but with packs of laminate sitting behind the sofa I got impatient and started clearing out the lounge on Monday night. Tuesday night saw more clearing (Those who have visited us will know how populated our bookcases were), I also lifted the edges of the carpet and pulled up the grip strips. For some reason when you hammer the nails of the grip strip through the existing tiles on the floor they tend to explode into lots of pieces, this was the nightmare that faced me under the carpet.
Wednesday I emptied the lounge completely and spent 3 hours cursing at laminate floor and all that was crap about it. I gave up for the night and was throwing the empty boxes around the room when I saw the instructions for the laminate were different to the ones from topps tiles. Thursday night I relayed the entire floor in 3 hours using the new instructions and I'm very pleased with the results. Chuffed with my speed and work I then rushed out to the evening house party where I mistakenly assumed I could sing and probably embarased myself by knowing all the words to the Natasha Bedingfield track on singstar.

Friday was back to specsavers and repopulating the lounge, Saturday dissapeared and Sunday was spent cheering friends on at the Bath half marathon. I'm now pink like a lobster and a little tired at work. Diet is going shit, not eating out is going shit and I'm missing my actual friends, due to not visiting them and not having any friends in Dorchester that are actually mine. Ups and downs as usual then. gtg now as the customers are here to see the project I'm working on (least it works atm)
