N had on a turtleneck, a fleece, her costume, and then her winter parka last night to go trick or treating as Ariel from The Little Mermaid. That's a Wisconsin Halloween for ya. Last year, she actually had a non princess dress, warm costume and it was in the 70s.
We went around the block and she trick or treated with some boys for awhile. Her orange bag was HEAVY when we got home. She ate about three things and then said she had a tummy ache and slammed some water instead.
Before we went out, our neighbors with kids one year older and one year younger than Natalie stopped by for some treats. Mom L told me that she had all their lights off at home and kids still came. See, they weren't giving out candy. N was a bit disappointed when she couldn't go by their house (where she hangs out sometimes) and see her littel friends again. I dunno...taking YOUR kids out for candy and not leaving your DH at home to hand out candy seems like some sort of karmic deficiency to me.
Why don't people just get into it and give the kids their treats? Our neighbor was miffed when her doorbell didn't work and she missed some kids coming for candy. Natalie said "this is SUCH a fun night" when we went out. We love the lawns ornamented with scary & cool Halloween stuff.
I love Halloween!
