Well who would've thunk it but I have been watching SOCCER! I am shocked too! I blame it on hockey =P a lot of hockey players are soccer fans or played soccer, and at work due to having a lot of hispanic co-workers(I work in the Bilingual Customer Care Department for T-Mobile USA) they have the World Cup games on all day ... So I have been watching although I really do not like soccer. However, yesterday and today when I have not been at work I have been watching the games on my own. Right now I am catching USA VS Italy ... I wonder if many in the USA are cheering for the Americans or the Italians because a lot of the American players are Italian-Americans LOL so I guess it's a bit interesting to say the least. The game is tied right now ... good game ... everyone seems to hate the Ref, I guess this little tidbit transcends sports lol ...
Speaking about work I had a GREAT day at work this past Thursday.
As I said I work in the customer service department. T-Mobile has won 3 JD Powers awards for Outstanding Customer service the past 3 years in a row so every year they raise the bar as they want to continue winning and make the customers feel like when they call we really do care about them and truly appreciate their business. So it's very important how you sound, what words you use, and for you to be sharp when looking at a customer's account to make sure that they aren't spending any more $$$ than they should. See a happy customer will want to stay with us beyond their contract and that's what T-Mobile wants.
Anyhow, to this end besides your coach listening to one of your calls twice per week, they have an independent monitor to listen to your calls once per week, 3 times per month. The scoring goes as follows ...
1 - Unacceptable
2 - Needs Improvement
3 - Business Standard/Satisfactory
4 - Business Excellence/Differentiated Experience
5 - World Class Experience
So you do not want to get a 2, and specially a 1 ... you want to get at least a 3(which is what most people get) but you honestly want to consistently get 4's ... I have gotten a few 4's once I got comfortable working how T-Mobile wanted me to work. Now I am talking about the independent monitor, not my coach since at the moment the company holds the independent monitor's scores higher than our coaches(that will change somewhat starting in August, they'll be a bit more equal) .... So there's this woman who is an independent monitor who mostly gives 3's and sometimes 4's because she is very by the book and very critical as opposed to others. She gave me a 3 for the first score of the month for me.
Well on Thursday I went on my break after my weekly coaching and when I come back my Senior Rep, Coach and Team Manager are there and they all look at me and call my name and I was like "EEP!" I thought "Shit, what did I do? Did I get a 0?"(that's customer abuse and you can get fired for that, although no matter how stupid customer's are or rude I tend to get nicer just to prove a point to the idiots) No no .. That same minotor woman who is SO strict gave me a 5!!!! To say that I was shocked is an understatement. I mean I was working hard to just get at least one 4 per month and then I go and get a 5? Not many people get 5's .... Now that I have experienced it I want MORE! Why? Because T-Mobile does truly reward you and singles you out if you do good.
I got my picture taken, I got a personalized email highlighting the streghts of my call and why I got the 5 to all the team managers, coaches and trainers from the Call Center manager ... I will get a balloon on my desk shaped like a 5 and 50 points toward my gift certificate bank(I can get GASOLINE with the gift certificates!) Also a Plaque thing and my name on this "All-Star" board =P but I also get my choice of GIFTS! Oh yes, FREE Stuff! They have this t-mobile store in the call center which is divided in 4 areas. 1st 4, 2nd 4, 3rd 4 and 5 ... with the 5 I get to choose ANY gift .. they have Stereos, DVD players, movies, cd's, digital cameras .. I want to wait because they are getting new stuff next week before I go and pick my gift ... teehee ... I am just so happy ... If I can keep it going this month then I might even become a Blue Chip employee .. Blue Chips get holidays off without having to use any of our vacation time, we also get time off the phones to help around the call center and our pick of the best shifts if the call center demanted shift re-alignment .. so it's all good!!
GO ME!
Tonight is game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals .. it's in Edmonton. I hope, in the case that the Hurricanes win that the Edmonton fans don't pull a Vancouver and start destroying that city like the Canucks fans did although their team LOST! I mean, come on now! Anyhow ... I was happy to see that the Hurricanes seemed happy and chipper and non-tense during their Friday practice ... I think it's cause all the pressure has shifted to the Oilers due to their Game 5 win since all the "Experts" are now expecting them to extend the series to a game 7 specially with Doug Weight injured and not playing for Carolina ... Also the U.S. ratings on NBC for the finals have FINALLY risen ... they are higher than they were for the Finals in 2004 and for the 3rd period and OT of game 5 they got up to the 4.0 which is a big thing for hockey ... I have NO DOUBT that as long as the NHL continues to better market the game, continue with the calling of penalties like they did this year and start to let the individual team stars shine that this will continue to be the trend ...
Now onto some pictures cause pictures are FUN & YUMMY!
