Oooo... critical failure.
Gary Gygax has died. In terms of being an inspiring force in modern culture, he really should be better known than he is. Dungeons and Dragons set the standard for role-playing games and gave other creators the liberty of imagination to create an endless series of fantasy worlds, some awesome, some... not. I had a great time playing D&D in college ("Hail Spontaneous Combustion!") and other games after.
And of course, half of modern video gaming owes its existence to Gary and D&D.
And now, the jokes. Stolen from TMoL:
"Let us have 1d6 minutes of silence in memory of Gary."
"It's so...*rolls dice*...sad... to hear this news."
"There one thing left to do. Loot his body and split his magical items among the party."
"He'll be back in 1d10 days - nobody has destroyed his phylactery yet."
"So yeah, does anyone happen to have a diamond worth at least $1000?"
