He’s still warm.
Her hands keeping pace with her frantic heartbeat, she claws at the rope digging into his throat.
Her hands pumping his chest, she remembers their last meeting, his arms around her shoulders, her face buried in the crook of his neck, his promise to help her dissolving the brittle pain between them.
Her hands grow still and cold against his fading warmth. Pulling him into her arms, his face buried in the crook of her neck, she begs him not to give up, but he’s gone, and now there’s no one left to help either of them.
