“Right. Any reaction to the change in insulin?”
“Excuse me?”
“Some diabetics experience problems when they switch from their usual prescription to the long-acting insulin.”
“Uh, no. No problem. At least not with the insulin, anyway.”
“Hmmm. Wanna talk about it?”
“Not really.”
“Just checking. It’s my job to ask, you know.”
“Really?”
“Not really, but humour me.”
“Thanks for the offer, Doc, but I’ll be fine.”
“That sounds familiar.”
“What can I say? I’m a predictable man.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t say - damn it.”
“Problem?”
“The glucose monitor needs new batteries. Hold still a moment, would you? I just need to find -”
“Wow.”
“Wow what?”
“You really are a pack rat.”
“Trust me, everyone has at least one desk drawer that looks like this.”
“Not me.”
“You never had a junk drawer?”
“Nope.”
"Never."
"Nope."
“You know, Michael, I’m not sure I believe you.”
“Would I lie to you?”
“You really want me to answer that?”
