Thank you, Mad Cow Studios. Fast work, good work, the old drive's contents was cloned onto the new drive and now happily lives there. I was girding my loins for a reinstall of everything. Awww yeah!

I drank a cup of liquid courage (Vault Zero) and braced myself, and did the firmware upgrade myself. SUCCESS!!! w00t! Victory is mine!

Eva00 is now running Mac OS 9.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.3.5. Yes, I need to update this something fierce but after all this I want to take it easy tonight.

Now for the extra RAM. Mmmm...extra RAM.... ^_^

You would think that, if an iMac was sold as refurbished, that all necessary firmware upgrades would be applied to it. You would think...but you apparently would be wrong. At least you would be wrong about the supposedly "refurbished" iMac I received yesterday ( Read more... )

My fellow Cartoon Geek Tom Reed took pity on my poor raggedy @$$ and I now have one of the last of the "gumdrop" iMacs winging my way to me from one of my favorite web sources for electronic goodies, Computer Geeks.
