Chips and Salsa Tour: Austin
I'm sitting in a hotel room in Wichita Falls, TX and there's a pretty rad thunder storm passing through right now.
I've changed the tour name to the Chips and Salsa tour because chips and salsa are eaten daily in the Whambulance.
Austin was INCREDIBLE! We played Fuck by Fuck Y'all at the Typewriter Museum on Friday. We were the odd band out as the rest were generally country bands. But, we had a pretty large crowd and got some great feedback after. It was HOT!

After the festival we drove around with Lana (she put together the show) to find some food and came upon this Mexican restaurant with a mariachi band playing and super cheep, delicious food.
Saturday we went back to the Typewriter Museum for Fuck by Fuck You and saw some amazing bands. I got a few pictures that I'll put up when I have time. LP and I tried to get to the Breeders show but missed it due to some bad directions. But, all was made better when we learned of a small secret house party that Thurston Moore was playing at. It was just Thurston and his bass player (no, not Kim unfortunately). He stayed and partied with us and he's an incredibly nice guy. He was talking with me and Jason about carpel tunnel and Jason recommended shots of cheyenne pepper and I talked to him about yoga. I chatted with this woman that came with him, Holly, and she's hired by SXSW to accompany celebrity musicians around and keep them safe and entertained. I asked her what the highlight of this year's festival was for her and she smiled and replied, "well, I can't really tell you." That must be a rad job.
Afterwards, I realized how interesting it was that only a few days earlier we had met Greg Ginn who told us we reminded him of Sonic Youth.
We were lucky to stay with Lana's friend, Maria, at her beautiful house a mile or so from downtown.
So far, we've been incredibly lucky on this tour. What an amazing experience.
