I realized it's been ages since I talked about the kids. So this is where I do that.
- Taylor and Brandon are 11th graders now. Juniors. In two years, I will be sending my babies off to college. This amazes me and terrifies me at the same time. But they're both doing well in school. Well, Brandon always does well, but Taylor has decided to stop pissing around and work to her full potential, for which I'm eternally grateful. But they both say this year is easier.
- Taylor got her permit to drive a couple of weeks ago. She got started a little late because she broke her right ankle very badly (it required surgery) in February and we wanted to make sure she had full use of it before we put her behind the wheel of a car. Because of this, she and Brandon (who is a year younger than her) are learning to drive at the same time. Or they would, if Brandon had passed his permit test. Which he didn't. And he was bummed about it. We were in McDonald's fifteen minutes after the test and he said to me, "Mom, I can't believe I failed. I've never failed *anything* in my life." And as I thought about it, I realized it was true. Brandon's never failed a class or a test or even a homework assignment. But he's studying hard so he can pass the next time he takes the test. And while he's waiting, Taylor gets to occasionally drive home from the grocery store two miles away from our house.
- Taylor got a camera for her birthday and she takes the thing everywhere. She's taken hundreds of pictures of herself, but occasionally she takes pics of other people. I was going through them yesterday and came across some good ones of Taylor and Brandon at my cousin's wedding.
So, here are Taylor and Brandon all
dressed up. And here are Taylor and Brandon
dressed down. And there's the kid update, complete with pictures.
