I just read a story, or at least a part of a story, where Character A, despite being given a second chance, deliberately does on the one thing that will hurt Character B while on a romantic vacation Character A took Character B on because Character A did something to deliberately hurt Character B three days before.
And now I'm expected to believe that Character A can someone how win Character B back because he'll apologize and explain how his horrible childhood makes him unable to accept love and how he sabotages their relationship because he doesn't think he deserves to be happy and blah, blah, blah, who the fuck cares.
Now, I get this is a story and people are all rooting for their OTPs no matter what, but some shit is just too much to forgive. Even in fanfic.
If anyone ever treated me the way Character A repeatedly treats Character B...actually, Character A would never treat me the way he treats Character B because I'm not that big a fool and I have way too much self-respect for that shit.
And that's kinda what pisses me off about fanfiction. Because after the fourth time you've deliberately fucked someone else in the person you're supposed to love's face, I don't care how fucked up your childhood was, I don't care if your daddy beat you and your mommy didn't love you, deliberately shitting on someone over and over and over again is abuse, no two ways about it. I'm not willing to accept that in a real relationship, I damn sure don't want to read about it.
