OK, so this is day 5 and I am having dull pains occasionally in the back of my skull. Like a sinus headache that comes and goes and is more annoying than incapacitating. I have gone without sleep for days upon end so I don't think that's the problem. I am thinking something else might be up. Also, I seem to be burping alot and my system's a little screwy right now. What tha shizz up wit that? Watch, I have cancer or a tumor or something. Great. I am trying to ride this out without using drugs. Maybe it's some demented form of flu without the puking (oh wait, that was Sat.). =P I usually have super-immunity to sickness.
Went to Pontiac 1-5 after work today to check on the demolition. Sun's going down earlier, plus it returned to partly crappy skies by the time I got out there. Not much to report. They have bulldozed all the "islands", light poles/signs and most of the trees and bushes and sorted them into their own neat little piles. There are stacks and stacks of what I think is new wood wrapped in white plastic along the back of the lot. Other than that, the building has not been touched. They spent ALL DAY doing JUST THAT? I was hoping to see some carnage, but I did take a few interesting photos. Well, I'll try to go back on Friday on my half day from work and see if there's anything interesting to snap photos of. The Showcase I & II opened on November 15, 1970, and was the first Redstone/National Amusements venue in the area. The twin opened with Catch-22 and Little Fauss and Big Halsy. Two screens were added in 1976 and one of the original auditoriums was split later that year. The Showcase 6-10 was built across the road in 1981.
She woulda been 34 in a few weeks. Bummer. Sterling is officially 30. I was thinking about having a get-together for all the old crew for a mock birthday party back in the end of Sept. when Sterling hit 30, but too many family birthdays and my cousin's funeral kinda messed that up and I forgot about it. Oh well. (I know I am psycho!)
I read in
the Freep today that
IKEA is going to build a HUGE store in Canton starting next year! Woo! I can't wait to go there. It's a bit of a drive, but a hella lot closer than Minnesota or Illinois! I wish they woulda picked Madison Heights or Troy though.
Gotta go clean the house now... will meet up with Aunt Pat tomorrow after work and don't want her seeing my pit of a house!
