Author's Note: Ever since I started watching old episodes of GG (season 1)...you know when the show was actually watchable and not predictable-I have been feeling different lately. Why write this story? I suddenly have this weird obsession for this pairing because of two reason: 1) My damn yaoi/shounen-ai addition has come back with a vengeance and 2) DATE are so adorable when they are together. The bromance just leaps off the screen.
I write these stories now out of boredom so you'll be seeing this couple a lot on my page.
It's Saturday! Yes Saturday; the sixth day of the week, the day of relaxation, parties, the day to sleep as long as you want and not give a shit. Yes this day was the best, and according to Humphrey tradition Dan knew exactly what he was going to do today. While people he knew *cough* NJBC *cough* would be at upper class social gatherings with their pin striped suits and cocktail dresses, clubs with bars that enable their alcoholism, having sex with someone they just met in a public bathroom stall or having front row seats to a fashion show, Dan will stay in his nice apartment that he shares with Nate watching foreign films like Pierrot le fou without a care in the world. Thanks to college he doesn't have to waste his time staring at the blank glowing screen of his computer until exhaustion overtook him. Then while he slept he'll dream that the writer's block he had for days was eating him alive.
Either it was school, soccer, Nate, taking Monkey to the park, his internship, or debating on which movie Elizabeth Taylor was best in with Blair, his life was fully consumed until the weekend began. Tomorrow when Sunday creeps up, the cycle will repeat-until then it was Dan's day to relax.
Along with his trusty laptop was a snack he made for himself; a turkey sandwich with whole grain bread, spinach, mustard, tomatoes, a dash of black pepper and a bottle of Heineken. Now what else did he need?
Have a comfortable chair to sit in? Check.
Cellphone turned off? Check.
Have complete privacy and silence? Check and check.
Everything was ready, all he had to do was to put the DVD disc into the laptop's cd player and his preparation would be complete. Before he can move a finger the front door slowly open and footsteps followed, "Dan are you here?"
The famous one eyebrow arch surfaced as Dan remain frozen like a statue, it took him awhile to regain his alertness and answer the voice.
"Um-yea. Yes, I'm in the living room." Obviously it was Nate who came in dragging his school bag on the floor and exhaustion claiming the physique of his body. The man bangs that hang about a centimeter above his cerulean eyes seem messy and disarray. His clothes had so many wrinkles and he smelled like expensive rum and Irish Spring, "What are you doing?"
"About to watch a movie." Nate shrugged his shoulders.
His dark eyes steadily glance at Nate's every movement from the living room to the kitchen. In his over-exhilarating mind, countless thoughts bombarded it. Dan was pretty sure he would have this place to himself so why the hell was Nate here. Don't get him wrong, Dan appreciate being around Nate but we all need those days where we can have to ourselves.
Dan's voice was dry and seeping with confusion, "Uh...Sh-Shouldn't you be hanging out with, you know the glorious and infamous Chuck Bass after your history class was over?"
Nate effortlessly toss his bag on the couch along with his jacket, "Change of plans."
He ungraciously push Dan's aside and sat right next to him, "What happen?"
"Me and Chuck were going to get drinks but he called me at the last minute saying he was heading to Brazil where," Nate imitates Chuck's voice, "where girls like to play sex games in the forest. Can you believe him?"
Golden boy was lost in his aggravation (or what we call Natefused) that it took him longer to notice the annoyed expression on Dan's face, he laughed it off when his realization came to him. "I'm not intruding on anything am I?"
"What? Oh no. Of course not, it wasn't like I was going to watch one of my favorite films that I admire since middle school alone in solitude with a good meal that I made for myself. You-intruding, nope."
You could smell Dan's sarcasm from a mile away, but instead of being annoyed Nate just grinned.
"I'm sorry man, I had no one else to talk too. Serena is off somewhere in Paris like always, I heard on GG she's helping Blair with that fashion line." His arm slowly coiled around Dan's shoulders, "Besides it feels like it's been forever since we been with each other."
"How sweet, really though Nate. I'm flatter that I'm your last option for companionship when no one else that you know are around."
Nate rolled his eyes and somehow slyly got closer, "Dude, you know what I mean."
Oh no, here it comes. It's the moment Dan dreads, every time Nate wants Dan to feel bad about his actions he makes his voice sound so feeble and melancholic. His head hung low, his beautiful blues eyes seem teary and were glue to Dan's. It was a sad attempt, like those awful PSA commercials about recycling and saving mother Earth however Nate's way of receiving sympathy actually work.
Nate scratch the back of his head with his free hand, "*sigh* But if you want solitude so badly I guess I'll leave." He got up, grabbing his jacket along the way and started walking (very slowly) to the door.
He continue to talk even though it was obvious Dan was ignoring him, "My friends don't want be around me along with my boyfriend, what has this world come to."
Dan reposition himself in his seat to get more comfortable.
"I don't mind walking into the cold rain by myself...with no one to hang out with."
Dan rubbed his temples in a circular motion, trying to regain his zen. Once he calm himself down, he pressed enter on the keyboard which started the movie.
Nate talked over his shoulder, "I don't know when I'll be back."
Dan turns up the volume to drain out Nate's voice.
"Here I goooo~"
"Where the hell are my headphones?", Dan asked himself since the speakers aren't good enough to erase Nate's chattering.
"Too bad I don't know anyone who cares enough about my well being. Poor me."
Nate's hand is on the doorknob,"Well I'm off into the cruel universe we call reality...by myself. I wonder if I can find a beautiful cougar to-"
"Alright Nate, you win." In frustration Dan remove his laptop from his lap and place it on the coffee table. Nate came rushing in, "If you want to hang out with me so bad you could have just asked."
A long, exaggerated sigh escaped Dan's lips although it wasn't hard to admit he couldn't help but smile.
"So what are we suppose to do now?"
Nate smiled grabbing Dan's hands and pulling him up to his feet, "Something different."
